Two families, and one special place.....
BALSAM LAKE TRADING CO. will open its doors in Spring 2024, thanks to the vision of two women deeply affected by Balsam Lake's charm. Recognizing a need for a shop offering distinctive clothing for both women and men, along with unique home goods and delightful gifts, they embarked on this venture. Their search led them to a historic gem: a former bank constructed in 1870, nestled in the heart of downtown Balsam Lake, WI. Preserving much of its original character, the century-old building boasts impressive high ceilings and rustic décor, evoking a sense of nostalgia.

Over the years, this building has served various purposes, including housing a bank, clinic, t-shirt shop, and real estate office. Now, it transforms into the new home for Balsam Lake Trading Co., fulfilling the long-held dream of its owners.

Katie brings a wealth of retail experience, having opened stores, worked in retail, and handled buying for boutiques. Jen, on the other hand, brings her expertise in real estate and a solid background in retail. Together, they share a vision of creating a store that blends rustic, trendy, and classic elements.

Katie resides in Balsam Lake with her husband Peter of 26 years and their three children: Isabelle, Matthew, and Frankie.
Similarly, Jen calls Balsam Lake home with her husband Keith of 25 years and their three children: Jack, Ella, and Charlie.
At Balsam Lake Trading Co., their motto is "comfort and cozy." Catering exclusively to women, men, and children, the store offers clothing inspired by nature, emphasizing simplicity, comfort, and trendiness. Visitors can explore the menswear and gifts section housed in the exclusive vault, a women's boutique room featuring accessories like hats, jewelry, and apparel, and a collection of unique home goods and fabulous gifts for the entire family.
